Estonian tourism developers are creating a conference bureau
On September 6, Enterprise Estonia, the Estonian Hotel and Restaurant Association, the Estonian Association of Travel Agents and the largest conference cities Tallinn, Tartu and Pärnu concluded an agreement on the promotion of conference tourism.
The partners who signed the agreement wish to bring together the interests of companies, local governments and the state under a common umbrella organisation, which will be the non-profit organisation Estonian Conference Bureau.
The main purpose of the bureau is to increase the international popularity and competitiveness of Estonia as a conference destination.
“In connection with the fast development of the tourism infrastructure of Tallinn, conference tourism is becoming an increasingly important area of the economy for the city. I hope that as the new conference centres, City Hall and Sakala are completed, Tallinn will be able to successfully compete with acknowledged conference cities,” said the deputy mayor of Tallinn Jaanus Mutli.
“A city’s possibilities in the market of conference tourism primarily depend on purposeful activity and cooperation between the public and private sector in developing and marketing the city as a conference destination,” he added.
