Ethiopian Airlines to fly direct to Jakarta
Indonesia is to get its first nonstop scheduled flight service to Africa.
Ethiopian Airlines announced it will begin flying to Jakarta three times a week from this summer.
It is also one of the first Dreamliner services for Jakarta and the airline expects sufficient demand to expand the service to daily frequency in the near future.
The inaugural flight takes off on July 17, 2018.
"Our new service will further cement our growing footprint in Asia and will enable us to remain the carrier of choice for travellers connecting between Africa and Asia." said Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Tewolde GebreMariam.
The airline also serves a number of Southeast destinations including Singapore.
Ethiopian has set a target of opening 10 new routes this year and just recently announced a new four times a week service to Manchester, UK beginning in December.
