Etihad to fly A380 superjumbo to New York
Etihad Airways will start flying its Airbus A380 aircraft to New York JFK in the spring.
From 22 April, 2024, the A380 will operate on one of the two daily New York flights.
The other daily flight is operated by a 787-9 featuring First, Business and Economy cabins.
The US route becomes the second destination after London to be served by the A380 since Etihad returned its superjumbo to the skies.
Antonoaldo Neves, Etihad Airways CEO, said: “We’re thrilled to start flying our A380 across the Atlantic, and we know our guests love the onboard experience.”
“We know this is important for all our guests, not least our corporate customers.”
Etihad launches a new route to Boston, Etihad’s fourth US gateway, on 31 March.”
Etihad’s A380 aircraft 337 Economy seats and 68 extra legroom seats.
On the upper deck, the Business Studios has 70 private spaces.
The upper deck also houses The Lobby, a serviced lounge and bar area between the First and Business cabins.
The First Apartments are nine private spaces, featuring a leather lounge chair, and a separate ottoman that transforms into an 80″ lie-flat bed.
Etihad also offers The Residence, aviation’s only three-room suite, accommodating up to two guests.
