European air fares going up
European-bound travelers in the US might want to book the trip in May before higher-priced airline fares this summer.
Airline prices are running 9% higher than last summer for Western Europe, according to Travelocity editor-at-large Amy Ziff, quoted in USA TODAY.
“Right now, airlines are filling summer seats to Europe with fares in the $600-and-up range, and they aren’t running big summer sales as they are in domestic markets,” said the newspaper.
The newspaper also reported a “lot of pent-up demand” for European travel.
