Ex-Kuoni boss joins Travelport GDS
Former Kuoni group CEO Armin Meier is joining Travelport GDS as chief commercial officer.
He is replacing Kevin Mooney who left the Galieo/Worldspan parent company last month.
Meier will join the company on June 1 on a part-time basis and assume the role on September 1.
He will have global responsibility for sales, marketing, segmentation and customer engagement for Travelport GDS, comprising the Galileo and Worldspan brands, and the IT Services and Software lines of business.
Meier will report to Gordon Wilson, president and CEO of Travelport GDS.
“Over the past two years, Travelport has executed an impressive transformation, which has resulted in the creation of a world-class, globally-balanced GDS provider,†Meier said.
“Now it’s time to step up a gear and convey that message to the market with confidence and clarity.
“My intention is to lead Travelport’s continued commercial growth by deepening our already strong relationships with suppliers and agencies, delivering exemplary customer service and by identifying and exploiting winnable business opportunities.â€
Wilson added: “As a seasoned industry executive, Armin brings to Travelport a unique blend of multi-national travel and technology sector experience.
“He has extensive knowledge of managing across borders and nationalities and has a flair for innovation as well as establishing deep relationships throughout our industry.â€
