Ex-Lastminute.com MD joins Thomas Cook

Former Lastminute.com UK managing director Mark Maddock will join Thomas Cook next week in a newly-created role.

He will take up the position of director of city and domestic UK and contracting cities on August 4.

Maddock left Lastminute.com in April after almost four years as MD.

In his new role, he will be responsible for growing the city break business in the UK and the contracting of city hotels across the whole group, supported by teams both in the UK and Europe.

He will be based in Egham and report to Beat Blaser, group head of city and domestic travel.

Peter Fankhauser, Chief executive officer Peter Fankhauser said: "As we continue to strengthen our digital and product talent, we are happy to welcome Mark to our newly formed Car & Domestic Travel team.

"His significant knowledge, extensive experience in the industry and transformation expertise will be invaluable as we continue to grow and develop our Group’s city break business."
