Excess baggage including a kettle
You’ve heard of packing everything but the kitchen sink – now Brits take a kettle and teabags on holiday, according to research from British Airways.
The survey asked Brits what the most random item they’ve taken on holiday and not used was and teabags and kettles featured high in the list.
The airline said people from Scotland and eastern England had paid the most in excess baggage while one in eight people take three or more towels for a one week holiday.
More that 40% take three or more pairs of shoes and nine out of ten holidaymakers don’t use up to 30% of the items they take on holiday.
Abigail Comber, British Airways’ head of brands and marketing, said: "Something as basic as checking what your baggage limit is on your chosen airline will help. We know from the research that 23 per cent of people don’t look into it before they get to the airport."
