Expedia announces job cuts
Online travel giant Expedia is rejigging its business, with job cuts announced.
It hasn’t stated how many roles are being eliminated.
Some staffers who got the bad news, cited ‘organizational changes’ which has been confirmed by the company.
Expedia is also promoting open job roles.
“We are eliminating roles as well as opening some new roles as we remain disciplined about assessing the skills we need for the future,” a spokesperson said. ”
“We are also simplifying our structure and reducing organizational layers to move faster and with more accountability. These are not easy decisions, and we are grateful for the contributions of our colleagues.”
It hasn’t disclosed the number of staff eliminated or which divisions are affected.
The emergence of AI-powered processes has led to many companies – in travel and other sectors – to reevaluate staffing levels and organizational structures.
