Expedia expands loyalty program
Expedia has revamped its loyalty program, expanding the product range for which points can be accrued and adding an extra tier.
Expedia+ Rewards now offers rewards for customers booking activities and cruises with most major cruise lines.
Members will earn two points for every dollar spent on a cruise booked through Expedia.
The company is also adding a +silver tier level for regular customers offering extra perks such as 10% bonus points on select purchases and an extra 250 points for eligible hotel bookings.
To qualify for +silver membership, customers need to spend $5,000 or book 15 eligible hotel nights.
There are over 1,400 hotel listings – called +VIP Access hotels – which will offer individual incentives such as a bottle of wine or spa treatment.
The loyalty program will also be used to push mobile bookings.
Users booking on mobile will get three times as many points compared to a desktop transaction.
Points in the Expedia+ Rewards program are converted to a cash value which users can use on Expedia.com for further bookings without blackout dates.
"We continue to evolve Expedia+ Rewards to ensure it’s the best travel loyalty program for the way real people want to travel," said Expedia vice president, global marketing David Doctorow.
