Expedia makes changes to agent programme
Expedia Travel Agents Affiliate Programme (TAAP) has announced, changes in the ongoing commission structure for its affiliate agents.
The Expedia TAAP partners with bricks and mortar travel agents and offers commission for bookings made through the Expedia website.
From October 1 2011 Expedia TAAP will increase the commission to travel agents on air bookings when booked as part of a package.
Agents will earn 10 percent or more on land content and 1.5% on air content for Expedia package bookings no matter what carrier is booked, including low cost carriers.
But Expedia will stop paying commission on bookings for standalone flights.
“Standalone air was such a small part of the Agent Programme that we decided to cut it and increase commission on the package componentâ€, said Stuart Udy, Expedia manager of travel agent distribution.
He said carriers such as Air Asia ( exclusive on Expedia apart from Air Asia’s own website) and many other carriers were creating new destinations every day.
“Through packages, heavily discounted land content is available at these new ports as well as established destinations.
“Expedia offers access to numerous carriers which are not available through traditional GDS channels so this is a great additional option for agents,†Udy added.
Expedia TAAP now operates in 15 markets around the world with over 17,000 Travel Agencies enrolled in the programme.
