Expedia to Activity World: Aloha
Expedia Inc. said it would acquire Activity World, one of the largest resellers of tours and activities in Hawaii. “Expedia is investing in Activity World to expand our destination services strength in one of the most popular vacation spots in the world,” said Erik Biachford, CEO, Expedia Inc. He said with this acquisition – expected to be finalized this month – Expedia was expanded its offerings through its web site. He also said the move made Expedia the first online travel company to offer customers the option of booking in-destination activities online or on location at their vacation property. Founded in 1986, Activity World operates more than two dozen kiosks in hotels and other locations on Maui. Travelers at these locations can choose from dozens of popular tours and activities such as luaus, helicopter sightseeing tours and snorkeling excursions. –Report by David Wilkening–
