Explore Holidays saddles up for 2007 Tour de France
Explore Holidays is offering cycling enthusiasts the opportunity to sample all the colour, action and excitement of the world’s most famous bicycle race with a 10-night ‘Le Tour de France’ package.
Built around the critical last 10 days of the 2007 event, the tour itinerary begins with a night in Paris before joining the race in Toulouse on July 21, the start point for the brutal and highly spectacular Pyrenees Mountain section.
Highlights of the race itinerary also include the 206 kilometre Cahors to Angouleme section traversing the Dordogne and Perigueux regions and the 55 kilometre Individual Time Trials between Cognac and Angouleme.
The tour culminates in Paris on 29 July when participants will be able to join the huge crowds watching the racers tackle one of their toughest challenges – a 10-lap grand finale on the treacherous cobblestones of the famous Champs Elysees.
The tour itinerary offers keen cyclists the chance to personally experience several race sections on their own bicycles via special guided tours planned en route.
Non-cyclists can also get close to all the action as passengers in custom-built support vehicles equipped with special trailers designed to carry all luggage, bicycles, etc, along the route.
The ‘Le Tour de France’ program is priced from $3509* per person twin share.
This includes 10 nights bed and buffet breakfast in three-star accommodation, four evening meals, transportation, guided bike rides, tour maps, a ‘Tour de France’ survival kit, souvenir neck wallets and return airport-hotel transfers in Paris.
*Conditions apply. Airfares are not included. This package is sold in conjunction with Sportsnet Holidays – “Authorised Sub Agent”.
