FAA fines for unruly passengers surpasses USD1 million
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed more than $530,000 in new fines against unruly air passengers. It has now served notices of civil penalty fines totalling more than $1 million since it started to crack down on badly behaved passengers.
The new fines target 34 airline passengers including a man who was hit with a huge $42,000 fine for allegedly making stabbing gestures toward passengers and ‘snorting what appeared to be cocaine from a plastic bag.’
Still, FAA fines are rare, given that the FAA said it has received reports of nearly 4,000 instances of unruly behavior so far this year.
