FAA probing Seattle Airport ground collision
The FAA is investigating a tarmac collision at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (KSEA) which damaged a stationary Delta Air Lines Boeing 737.
The wing of a Japan Airlines (JAL) Boeing 787-9 collided with the tail of the Delta plane.
No one was injured but both sets of passengers were deplaned.
The incident was caught on video.
The FAA put a temporary hold on flight operations at the airport, which caused ‘only minimal impact’ the airport said.
The incident happened as the airport was dealing with weather related delays.
There were more than 100 flights delayed or canceled due to snow and ice.
The JAL flight had arrived from Tokyo Narita while the Delta plane was going to Mexico.
The Port of Seattle Fire Department helped tow the damaged aircraft off the ramp.
“While in sequence for deicing, the tail of a Delta 737 aircraft made contact with a wing tip of another airline’s aircraft. There are no reports of injuries for crew or customers on the flight, and we apologize for the experience and delay in travels,” Delta Air Lines said.
