Falling inflation attributed to cheaper flights
Cheaper air fares have been given as one of the main reasons for falling inflation, which was down to 0.3% in April.
The Office of National Statistics (ONS) said the headline consumer prices index rate fell back from 0.5% in March.
It said the fall was down to lower air fares and cheaper clothes.
Analysts suggested the early Easter was the likely reason for the change in the cost of flights between March and April.
Inflation is expected to rise for the rest of the year, reaching the Bank of England’s target of 2% by the middle of 2018.
