Falls Creek snow depth reaches magical one metre mark

Sunday, 06 Jul, 2007 0

With snowstorms bringing substantial snow Falls Creek says that the base is now well over 1 metre, with all 14 lifts expected to operate from this weekend with Summit and Lakeside opening during the day today and International on Saturday.

“A good dump,” is how one Falls Creek resident described how it is at the picturesque alpine resort at present, with continual snow falling for the last 36 hours and it is still snowing heavily at Victoria’s largest alpine resort.

With the average snow depth ‘cracking’ the one metre mark the school-aged skiers and boarders are relishing the amazing snow conditions.

Powder days are not to be passed up! For the next four or five days there’ll be a very good array of snow-covered slopes for the many snow enthusiasts who didn’t venture to the snow last winter.

“This latest, substantial snowfall has come at an ideal time. Next week is one of the busiest weeks of the school holidays and this weekend all the resort’s ski lifts are expected to operate” Michael Callahan Marketing Manager stated.

The resort’s younger guests will be zooming around on their skis or a snowboard taking advantage of the metre-plus snow depth.

The current, almost perfect, snow conditions will seduce the die-hard skiers and boarders into their 4WD’s and onto the slopes. This is too good to miss!
