Family appeal over missing backpacker
The family of a backpacker who has been missing in Nepal for more than a month has appealed to other travellers for information.
According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, 24-year-old Gareth Koch went missing on 5 March after an argument with his travelling partner in the Sagamartha National Park.
He was supposed to arrive back in the UK on 20 March but did not – and now his family, who say the non-arrival was “totally out of character”, are becoming more and more concerned.
The newspaper quotes the man’s father, David, as saying: “It is now seven weeks since we have heard from our son and we are getting increasingly worried about what could have happened to him. I appeal to anyone who has been on holiday in Nepal who remembers seeing him. If you know Gareth and he has been in contact with you since Feb 21, please call the police.”
The Telegraph reports that British and Nepalese police are no involved in the search, and that notices have been placed on websites aimed at trekkers.
