Family-owned agency fails
Family-owned travel agent, Clwyd Travel, has ceased trading after 27 years in business.
The company, based in Deeside, North Wales, had become a cruise specialist in the last five years.
Run by father and son, Graham and David Stanley, the agency had four staff in total.
David Stanley told Travelmole the failure was down to a fall in bookings, particularly this year.
He said although the cruise industry was performing better than other sectors, the agency had been forced to discount considerably to compete.
Last year, the agency’s staff cruised on Ventura, Ocean Village 2, Oriana and Aurora and in 2009 Ventura again, Splendour of the Seas & Oceana.
Its website was still in operation today, and tells customers: “Our size means you get to speak to the same people each time you ring and we’ll soon get to know exactly what you want and don’t want.”
Customers are now being informed.
Any retail claims arising from the failure of Clwyd Travel Ltd will be handled by CEGA, ABTA’s claims handling partner.
