Fastest growing hotel chains in America?
Both Americas Best Value and InterContinental hotels are among the fastest growing chains anywhere. For example:
v Americas Best Value Inn is doing what it says has not been done ever in the industry — in eight years, it has grown to reach 800 properties.
v And InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) increased its global pipeline by more than 29,000 rooms, expanding the total number of rooms to over 187,000 in the first half of 2007.
The Americas region of InterContinental led the pipeline growth with the signing of over 32,000 rooms in this same time period. As of June 30, the region’s pipeline had 1,129 hotels (119,370 rooms) representing room growth of 13% for the first half of the year.
“Our tremendous growth is being led by our Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands with more than 550 license agreements signed over the past 18 months,” said Kirk Kinsell, Chief Development Officer, the Americas, IHG and recently named President of the company’s Europe, Middle East, and Africa region. He said the chain was signing an average of two deals a day.
Americas Best value claims to be the fastest growing hotel chain in the country.
“I have no intention of slowing down,” said Roger Bloss, CEO and President of Americas Best Value Inn. “We will continue this momentum as long as there are hotel owners who need and want an affordable alternative to hotel brand affiliation.”
With 752 properties in its system at the end of July, Mr Bloss credits the brand’s unprecedented growth to the unique member model he developed that provides hotel owners with short-term contracts; low, flat fees; a voice and a vote in the brand’s direction; and no liquidated damages.
“Other brands have certainly tried to imitate our model, but none have achieved the level of success that Americas Best Value Inn has attained because they don’t have our level of comprehensive resources and development tools to support their property owners,” said Patrick Mullinix, VP of Development.
