FCO issues more advice about weekend protests in Egypt
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has issued extra advice for visitors to Egypt as the country prepares itself for major protests this weekend.
Troops have been drafted into Cairo and other cities to deal with demonstrations planned by opponents of the Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi.
The FCO warned that several large marches are due to take place in the next few days in the run up to Sunday, which marks the year anniversary of Morsi coming to power.
On Sunday there will be several very large marches in Cairo to both the Presidential Palace in Heliopolis and to Tahrir Square, it said.
"You should avoid all demonstrations and large gatherings," it told visitors.
"If you become aware of any nearby protests, leave the area immediately. The location and size of demonstrations will be difficult to monitor.”
It told tourists to consider carefully their movements around major cities in Egypt over the period.
