FCO issues warning after Riyadh attacks
Saudi Arabia: Britons advised against all but essential travel
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has warned Britons that they should stay away from Saudi Arabia unless it is essential to visit, in the wake of Monday’s terror attacks, which killed scores of people.
Recent reports suggest two Britons are missing following the attacks.
The FCO revised its advice for Saudi Arabia on 2 May after specific warnings that terrorists were planning an attack; now the advice has been upgraded and includes specific warnings that terrorists could use biological or chemical weapons.
The warning reads: “There remains a high threat of further large or small-scale attacks against western interests in Saudi Arabia. You should maintain a high level of vigilance, particularly in places frequented by foreigners, such as hotels, restaurants and shopping malls. You should take sensible precautions for your personal safety and vehicle safety.”
