Fiji’s TAG meets to set up tourism rescue plans
Fiji’s Tourism Action Group is meeting in Fiji this morning to commence the process of rescuing the coup country damaged tourism industry.
Aaron McGrath, MD of Sonaisali Resort in Fiji and a member of TAG told The Mole in Sydney this week that it was critical to get the Fiji recovery programme into the market immediately to capture some of the business that was happening over the Christmas period and in particular the Boxing Day and onwards sales scenarios.
He added that it was also vital to get over the message that Fiji was a safe place to visit and that if there was any trouble, which there is currently not, then that would be confined to Suva, many miles away from the main resort areas, where it was business as usual.
Members of TAG are understood to be Jo Tuamoto (FVB), Bill Whiting (Global Bedbank), Tony Whitton (SOFTA), Aaron McGrath (FHITA) and a representative from Air Pacific, with all the senior FVB Managers from Australia, New Zealand, known to have travelled to Fiji yesterday to attend, with also it is understood representatives from Fiji’s advertising agencies.
It is anticipated that the TAG rescue programme to be launched into the market very shortly.
