First bowling alley at sea makes UK debut
Norwegian Cruise Line’s latest ship Norwegian Pearl – boasting a ten-pin bowling alley – makes its UK debut today.
The ship is docked in Southampton for an overnight travel industry preview before entering service in the US.
The four-lane ten pin bowling alley is part of an all day entertainment, sports bar and nightclub called Bliss on baord the vessel.
Major sports events will be relayed during the day on multiple flat screen TVs, while at night the venue transforms into a night club.
A range of inter-connecting cabins are designed to cater for extended families as NCL seeks to drive down the average age of cruise passengers.
The ship features a private deck of 10 luxury Courtyard Villa suites that share a private access courtyard with its own pool, hot tub, sun deck and chill-out lounge.
Meanwhile, Norwegian Pearl’s Garden Villas have three separate bedrooms with private bathroom, living and dining rooms, private garden, sundeck, hot tub and outdoor dining area.
The line is to build two new ships and has taken an option on a third to provide 12,600 berths between 2009 and 2011, representing the third generation of NCL’s ‘Freestyle Cruising’ vessels.
