First Caribbean cruise for months cut short due to positive Covid test
The first cruise ship to resume sailing in the Caribbean has revealed one passenger has tested positive for Covid-19.
The passenger on the SeaDream Yacht Club ship SeaDream I tested positive based on ‘preliminary’ results, leading to all 53 passengers being confined to staterooms, according to a journalist aboard the ship.
Passengers include 37 Americans.
"Please allow a bit of extra time for us to adjust for this new situation. We are confident in our routines and medical plans, but they are strict, and we apologize for this inconvenience," ship captain Torbjorn Lund told passengers.
The ship left Barbados and has visited St. Vincent, Canouan and the Tobago Cays, and returned to Barbados after the positive test.
All crew were tested and all came back negative, Lund said.
Passengers were required to show proof of a negative test result before boarding the ship last weekend.
TravelMole has reached out to SeaDream for comment.
The ship is not subject to the CDC’s current framework for conditional sailing order.
