First Choice ends mainsteam arm sale talks
First Choice has terminated talks surrounding the sale of its mainstream holidays arm.
The announcement came within hours of potential bidders Thomas Cook and MyTravel announcing plans to merge to create a huge international leisure travel group.
A stetement said: “The board of First Choice Holidays PLC announces that talks regarding the possible sale of its Mainstream business have been terminated.
“First Choice will announce its usual trading update at the Annual General Meeting to be held on 7 March 2007.”
MyTravel had admitted being in talks to acquire the First Choice mainstream business while Thomas Cook had not ruled itself out of the running.
