First commercial Max flight since grounding ready to take flight
The Boeing 737 Max is set to take to the skies again in the US
American Airlines will operate the first commercial Max flight in the US since the global grounding of the jet in March 2019.
The jet resumes service 29 December with a round-trip from Miami to New York.
The Max jet was grounded from March 2019 after two crashes killed 346 people.
The flights are possible after the US Federal Aviation Administration last month approved software changes Boeing made to the jet.
Earlier this month Brazilian airline GOL became the first to resume commercial Max operations.
US passengers seem to be nervous about flying in the Max.
A new Reuters/Ipsos survey says 57% of Americans were not likely to fly in a Boeing 737 Max once they were informed about the plane’s safety history.
The poll found about 37% would be likely to fly the Max once it had been flying for at least six months without any further issues
Other Boeing Max customers United, Southwest and Alaska Airlines expect to start Max flights sometime in the first quarter of 2021.
