Fish and chips part of new ship restaurant menu

Sushi lollipops will mix with Boddington’s beer-battered fish and chips in a new speciality restaurant on board new ship Celebrity Eclipse.

The Celebrity Cruises vessel, the first new build by the company to operate out of Southampton from April, will have a new dining venue on board.

A cover charge of $30 per person will apply to eat at Qsine, which will not carry any age restrictions. The dress code will be “smart casual”.

Reservations can be made in advance of boarding the ship via the Celebrity website.

Qsine claims to provide an “unexpected, modern approach to familiar dishes from around the world” and is the brainchild of the line’s culinary operations vice president, Chef Jacques Van Staden.

Items on the menu include sushi lollipops, a meatball trilogy using Kobe beef, Chinese selections served in martini glasses, tiger shrimp and bay scallops and Boddington’s beer-battered cod and chips served with malt vinegar or aioli.

Celebrity has designed a means for guests to capitalise on technology to review and order wines via the latest touch-screen devices.

Drinks will cover 100 varieties of primarily organic wines, to a range of cocktails.

"Qsine is designed to surprise our guests with uniquely unordinary dishes, innovative presentations and engaging experiences," said Van Staden.

"It’s designed to allow them to share with each other, sample several different selections, and simply experience both new and favourite foods in an entirely fun and unexpected way."

The 2,852-passenger ship is to be launched in Southampton on April 24 and will run a summer season of cruises from the port.
