Flight escorted by military jets over security threat
An Emirates flight which departed Athens was turned around and escorted back by fighter jets due to a security scare.
It turned out to be unfounded.
Emirates flight EK209 was on its way to Newark Airport.
The decision to turn the plane around was made by US authorities, according to local media.
It reportedly followed a tip about a Turkish man attempting to travel to the US, however he apparently wasn’t even on the flight.
The man was questioned by officials and was denied travel while the tip is fully investigated.
