Florida port getting needed meeting space
A surf-themed new hotel at Port Canaveral will give Brevard County, Florida, some much-needed meeting and conference space, tourist officials say.
The 400-room, $147 million hotel is being developed by the Ron Jon Surf Shop.
Port officials were seeking a developer “who could bring the Port Authority’s goal of transforming Port Canaveral into a tourist destination,” said Stan Payne, the port’s CEO.
In addition to the hotel, there will be a surf school and other stores and restaurants.
The hotel complex will have 20,000 square feet of conference space.
