FO advises against all but essential travel to Kenya
The Foreign Office has today changed its travel advice to Kenya, advising against all but essential travel to the country.
The advice has been reviewed following the continuing serious unrest in Kenya following the result of disputed elections on Sunday which has reportedly led to up to 300 deaths
The FO said: “We advise against all but essential travel to Kenya.
“There is uncertainty about the security and political situation in the country especially in the light of the massed rallies planned for January 3 and continued unrest linked to the disputed presidential election result.”
The change is likely to affect tour operators who yesterday said they were continuing to operate normally to Kenya (see separate story).
Up to 290,000 British tourists visit Kenya every year.
