Fog causes flight cancellations
Passengers due to fly out of the UK this morning are being advised to check with their airline before heading to the airport as heavy fog is causing flight disruption.
The Met Office warned on Monday of freezing fog overnight, particularly in Wales and southern and central England, which is expected to last until midday today.
It said: "Slower journey times are likely with delays possible to bus and train services. Some delays or cancellations to flights are also possible."
British Airways has said some European departures have been cancelled, including 50 departing and arriving flights at Heathrow. Some flights at Gatwick and London City have also been affected.
BA said: "Forecast fog and freezing conditions across parts of southern England and northern Europe meant a slight reduction in our short-haul flight schedule this morning.
"We know that this is an important time for many families to travel and we are very sorry for the disruption to some of our customers’ journeys."
Heathrow Airport has advised passengers due to travel to check flight status before setting off for the airport.
Flights were grounded temporarily on Monday evening at Manchester airport, partly due to heavy fog.
