Foreign Office issues new travel advice for Turkey following terrorist attack
Visitors to Turkey are being urged to be on their guard following two explosions in the capital of Ankara that killed at least 97 people at the weekend.
A further 180 were injured in the blasts, which happened at Ankara’s main train during a peace rally.
The Foreign Office said British visitors to Turkey should avoid similar events.
"You should avoid any demonstrations or large gatherings in Turkey and remain especially vigilant. You should follow any instructions given by local authorities," it said.
It pointed out that more than 2,500,000 British nationals visit Turkey every year and most visits are trouble-free. Last weekend’s attack was the bloodiest in the country’s recent history.
Hundreds of people had gathered in Ankara to demand an end to the violence between Kurdish separatist PKK militants and the Turkish government when two suicide bombers are believed to have detonated devices.
