Former Australia Director appointed to top Thailand Tourism job
Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) board has announced that it has selected Phornsiri Manoharn, currently the Deputy Governor for Domestic Markets and former Director for Australia, as its new Governor.
Phornsiri, 58, who has been working for the TAT for 36 years and currently oversees domestic markets, was one of three short listed final candidates and the only internal one and is a specialist in both international and domestic marketing.
Her term as governor will be two years and nine months.
Tourism and Sports Minister Suvit Yodmani, who also serves as the Chairman of the TAT board, said that Phornsiri had received the highest votes from eight of the 10 members of the state agency’s board, adding, aafter the selection, “She has impressive qualifications with strong experience in the tourism industry and good intentions for development of the sector”.
