Former Celebrity Big Brother housemate found dead in London hotel
American entertainer and former Celebrity Big Brother housemate David Gest has been found dead in a luxury London hotel.
Police confirmed Gest, the former husband of singer Liza Minnelli, died at the Four Seasons in Canary Wharf today.
He was in London planning a tour of the UK, called ‘David Gest is Not Dead But Alive In Soul’.
He named the show after a mix-up during his January appearance on CBB when a fellow guest mistakenly thought Gest, who was sick in bed at the time, had died after the house had been told of David Bowie’s death.
Gest’s friend and former bodyguard Imad Handi confirmed he passed away in a statement released yesterday.
Police said there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances.
In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at 10:17 on Tuesday 12 April to the Four Seasons hotel in Westferry Circus to reports of an unexplained death of a man in his 60s.
"London Ambulance Service were called to the scene. Life was pronounced extinct at the hotel. A post-mortem will be held in due course. Next of kin are in the process of being informed."
