Former Travelsavers chief takes full-time post at Advantage
Advantage Travel Centres has appointed former Travelsavers managing director Ken McLeod as its new commercial development manager.
The position is a new one created for Mr McLeod, who has been working part-time for the organisation supporting the business travel division. He will now be employed full-time by Advantage with an enhanced role.
Mr McLeod will continue to negotiate with the airlines for the business travel operation, but will also be responsible for developing Advantage’s air travel organiser’s licence and consider dynamic packaging options for the organisation.
He will also be used in a floating role across the organisation as the need arises.
His appointment comes days after Ickenham Travel managing director Peter Reglar was named as Advantage president, replacing Roger Smith. That position is expected to be scrapped when Advantage is given the go-ahead to change into a profit-making organisation.
McLeod spent three years as MD of Travelsavers, two years in the same role at Canadian Affair and 12 years at Carlson/AT Mays.
“I’m delighted to join Advantage at a time of change and some exciting developments,” said Mr McLeod.
Advantage interim managing director Geoff Blagg said: “Ken has been working with the organisation for some time on a part-time basis but we need additional support, particularly in looking at developing our own ATOL and in dynamic packaging. His background in the industry and contacts bring real benefits to Advantage.”
