Free London Pass for WTM delegates

Friday, 26 Sep, 2003 0

The organisers of this year’s World Travel Market are offering all delegates -except students – a free London Pass worth £27 in what they claim is the biggest promotion the event has ever seen.

According to Reed Travel Exhibitions the retail value of the promotion – if all visitors were to take up the offer – is £1,217,000.

The Pass, offered in conjunction with Visit London and the Leisure Pass Group, will give visitors free entry to more than 50 of the capital’s attractions, for use on any one day during the week of the show. It can be collected from the Visit London stand.

Marketing executive Deena Lunn told TravelMole that students did not qualify because they were not “travel professionals.”

She added that following the success of last year’s promotion giving visitors a chance to ride the London Eye she expected take-up of the offer to be high.

And Ms Lunn said she did not believe people would visit the show to pick up a Pass and then leave. She told TravelMole: “People are at the show to do business, this is just a little value added promotion for them.” She pointed out that the card continued to be valid for three days after the show had finished, making it ideal for visitors prolonging their stay.

World Travel Market takes place at London ExCel from November 10-13. The free London Pass can be used on any one day between November 10-16.
