French strikes could affect flights today

Flights to and from France could be disrupted today due to a new strike by French civil servants.

Other transport services within France are also likely to be affected by the strike, which started last night and will run until 06:00 tomorrow (Wednesday October 16).

European air traffic control organisation Eurocontrol warned that air traffic control services in France could be affected due to the latest strike.

EasyJet said in a statement: "EasyJet flights in the morning may experience some minor predicted delays, but we anticipate these will reduce during the morning.

"It is likely that public transport will be affected, so we advise any customers travelling from the French airports to allow extra time for their journeys."

The Directorate General for Civil Aviation in France has told airlines that it expects "very low participation" by air traffic controllers.

The Foreign Office said the industrial action may affect travel and public services.
