Fresh misery for London City Airport passengers
Heavy fog brought travel misery to the southeast of England again today, causing scores of flight cancellations and delays at London airports.
London City Airport appeared to be worst affected with more than two dozen departing and arriving flights cancelled or diverted to other airports.
Other passengers also were forced to endure long delays while waiting for the weather to clear.
The disruption was expected to last at least until mid-morning. It is the second time this month that fog has caused severe delays at London City Airport.
Stansted Airport said its first wave of departures left on time this morning, but air traffic restrictions meant some arrivals were delayed. Restrictions have since been lifted and fllights are back to normal, it said.
A spokesman for London City said at around 10.30am that the weather was gradually improving. "We hope to get delayed passengers on their way as soon as possible, though there may be knock on effects to the schedule," he added.
