From a galaxy far, far away…Star Wars comes to Disney
Walt Disney Co has ended weeks of speculation and confirmed plans for Star Wars-themed lands in California and Florida.
Chief executive officer Bob Iger has unveiled plans for Star Wars attractions at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and Disneyland in Anaheim, California, which will create a "jaw-dropping new world".
Two 14-acre attractions will be the biggest single themed expansion in the company’s history.
Guests will be able to take the controls of the Millennium Falcon while another attraction promises to place guests ‘in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance’.
The new lands will feature characters from the original Star Wars films as well as the upcoming film The Force Awakens, which hits the big screen in December.
Iger also announced plans for a new Toy Story Land at Disney Hollywood Studios.
