Frontier Airlines almost doubling route network with huge expansion
Budget carrier Frontier Airlines has announced a colossal route expansion across the nation, adding 21 new cities and 85 new routes to its network.
That will take the number of destinations served by the LCC to 82 by summer 2018.
The airline claims it will then offer low fares on routes for 90% the US population, effectively saving travelers more than $1 billion with access to lower airfares.
Frontier’s main Denver hub sees the biggest expansion with more than 20 new destinations, while Milwaukee and Tampa get 10 or more apiece.
Many of the new destinations are in fact a return to cities which it previously served but discontinued.
The completely new cities never before served are Buffalo, Charleston, Jacksonville, Ontario, CA and Pensacola.
"We are proud to announce the nationwide expansion of our unique brand of Low Fares Done Right which will empower millions more people to afford to fly," Frontier Airlines CEO Barry Biffle said in a statement.
"We project this will save our customers over a billion dollars annually on their flights. These new flights will allow us to serve even more of America and make flying a truly affordable option."
The network expansion will almost double the number of nonstop routes, and bolster the number of routes including connections to ‘well over 1,000 by summer 2018.’
