Frontier Airlines launching daily Miami-Atlanta service
Low cost carrier Frontier Airlines is expanding further at Miami with a new daily flight planned for Atlanta in March.
Using Airbus A319 aircraft, the service will take off on March 9.
The Atlanta route will be the carrier’s sixth announced from MIA recently.
In December it launched services to Denver, Philadelphia, Chicago O’Hare, New York LaGuardia and Washington Dulles.
Once the Atlanta service begins, Frontier will operate 47 weekly flights from Miami, the airline said.
"We’re thrilled that Frontier continues to expand its service from MIA to popular metropolitan cities across the nation," said Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. Gonzalez.
"The addition of Frontier’s service to Atlanta is yet another appealing travel option for our customers and brings greater diversity to our connections with the US and the world."
MIA also this week announced 2014 was another record breaking year for passenger traffic.
The airport handled 40.9 million travelers, which is the fifth consecutive year I has posted record figures.
It also welcomed eight new international destinations in 2014, airport officials said.
The airport’s largest carrier, American Airlines also announced new flight additions.
It will begin services to Barranquilla, Colombia and Monterrey, Mexico on June 4.
