Further changes to Air NZ base commissions

Tuesday, 31 Mar, 2006 0

From 29 May 2006, Air New Zealand will reduce travel agent base commission on all Air New Zealand airfares sold out of Australia.

Base commissions on domestic New Zealand and trans-Tasman airfares will decrease from 1% to 0% and for all other international tickets including Pacific Islands, USA and UK will decrease from 7% to 5%.

Air New Zealand General Manager, Australia, Michael Reed said a difficult operating environment including consistently high fuel prices had put added pressure on reducing costs.

“Many of our competitors have reduced their base commissions over the last year on airfares sold within Australia. Air New Zealand cannot afford to allow our competitors to maintain a cost advantage while still offering a high quality product for our customers at an affordable price,” he said.

“We remain committed to working with our trade partners and delivering a competitive product to our key destinations that will bring more customers to travel agency doors.

“Our Account Management staff are on hand to assist agents with any questions they might have on these changes.

“We have also briefed the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) on these changes and will continue to work with AFTA and the travel agency community,” he said.

For more information agents can contact their Air New Zealand Account Manager or the airline’s Agency Help Desk at 1300 137 747.
