Further misery for air passengers as French go on strike again

Passengers travelling to Europe face further disruption today as French air traffic controllers walk out for a third time in a month.

As a result, the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) has mandated the cancellation of a number of flights for all airlines using French airspace.

BA said that in addition to cancelling some flights to and from France, other short-haul flights using French air space might also be disrupted by the action, which began last night.

"We will be using larger aircraft, where possible, to help affected customers and are doing all we can to reduce the levels of disruption," it said.

"We have cancelled a number of flights which were due to operate on Wednesday evening and throughout Thursday.

"We recognise the uncertainty the situation is causing and have introduced a more flexible rebooking policy."

Ryanair has cancelled more than 100 flights across Europe today, including a handful between the UK, France and Spain. It warned that in addition to the cancellations, other flights might be affected.

EasyJet said some of its flights might also be affected by the strike on Thursday.

Passengers are advised to check with their airlines before travelling to the airport.
