Galileo continues the pursuit of excellence……………….

Friday, 12 Sep, 2007 0

Galileo has announced the second of three finalists in this year’s Agent of the Future Program, with Katherine English from the International College of Management at Manly now in the running to win the Agent of the Future 2007 incentive which offers prizes including overseas trips, IT equipment, behind the scenes tours, travel insurance, career counselling and further Galileo training to enhance the students’ tourism experience.

Over 80 per cent of travel training colleges in Australia are now using Galileo’s global distribution system as part of their curriculum.

Katherine English was nominated by her teacher Susan Freshwater who commented “Katherine is an exceptionally dedicated student who will benefit greatly from the opportunities presented to her by Galileo’s Agent of the Future Program.”

Galileo developed its Agent of the Future Program to provide an incentive for tourism students and teachers to strive for greater levels of excellence. Exceptional students and teachers from Australia and New Zealand are nominated by colleges who use Galileo’s GDS in their training or teaching.

At the end of each year, during Galileo’s annual Travel Symposium, a panel of industry experts judge the nominees on their academic achievements, enthusiasm and application of knowledge to the travel industry.

The aim of the travel symposium is to update teachers on the latest developments in Galileo training along with presentations from various industry bodies.

Galileo is also proactive in providing “out of classroom” training by facilitating industry tours where by students have the opportunity to meet some of Galileo’s top accounts as well as take part in airport, rental vehicles and five star hotel inspections.

In addition to students learning to use Galileo’s GDS, qualified travel agents can also complete their Galileo GDS training through colleges and Galileo office classrooms. Travel agents also have the choice of training online using Galileo’s eLearning facilities.
