Gatwick flights suspended
Flights out of Gatwick’s north terminal have been suspended until further notice after a security alert.
Staff and passengers have been evacuated from the terminal; police are refusing to give more details at the moment and have not confirmed whether the incident is anything to do with the present high state of alert around the country.
Flights out of the airport’s south terminal are still running as normal.
Meanwhile, two people have been arrested at Heathrow Airport under the Terrorism Act, though this is not specifically being linked with the high security currently in place.
Latest reports say a man has been arrested at Gatwick under the Terrorism Act. He was a 37-year-old Venezuelan national travelling from Colombia and police say he was carrying a live grenade.
