Global holiday property rentals portal planned

Online property rental company www.holiday-rentals.co.uk is expanding its network to the US and is to increase coverage of Europe.

The developments follow the firm’s acquisition by US-based HomeAway last year.

The long term aim is to create a global online rental proposition, according to managing director Alexis de Belloy.

“The launch of the US Network marks a major step forward for Holiday-Rentals.co.uk and is just the first of a number of projects that will take the ‘rent by owner’ market to the next level,” he said.

“Holiday-Rentals.co.uk and HomeAway are leading the way in this historically fragmented industry, investing in the best technology to integrate inventories across the network and create the world’s most complete marketplace for holiday rentals.

“Hundreds of thousands of Brits now own holiday homes that they want to rent out and an ever-increasing number of independent travellers are looking for such accommodation, as they realise it is an attractive and often more affordable alternative to staying in a hotel.

“Holiday-Rentals.co.uk facilitates the relationship between the two by providing a well-organised, easily searchable collection of properties that includes photos, detailed property descriptions, pricing and booking information.”

The US network offered to Holiday-Rentals.co.uk owners consists of four sites – HomeAway.com, GreatRentals.com, CyberRentals.com and A1Vacations.com, which claim to reach a combined renter audience of more than 25 million a year. Advertisers can publish and manage their advert on all four sites from their Holiday-Rentals.co.uk account.

Future strategy involves expanding and developing the network in Europe, which consists of Holiday-Rentals.co.uk, HolidayRentals.fr, FeWodirekt.de and recently launched HomeAway.es. This will enable Holiday-Rentals.co.uk to offer local advertisers a global deal and provide a stock of searchable holiday homes for UK travellers.

It is envisaged that by the end of the year, more than 100,000 properties will be available across the network.

Travellers browsing local sites will be able to search all properties on all sites in the network through a powerful search tool that can retrieve suitable accommodation from each individual site. This is the tool that enables the US Network sites to show Holiday-Rentals.co.uk properties.
