Golfasian joins with Asia World to grow Indonesia golf tourism market
Inbound specialist tour operation Golfasian and destination marketing firm Asia World Indonesia will tee off together in a bid to lure more overseas golfers to Indonesia.
The partnership aims to promote Indonesian golf to a wider audience and will look initially to increase inbound golf tourism to the island of Bali.
Bali’s main inbound golf tourism markets are Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Korea and currently has four courses.
While gradually increasing, Indonesia attracts just a fraction of the 700,000 golfers who visit Thailand annually and also trails Malaysia and Vietnam.
However that could soon change as the Indonesia capital Jakarta is hosting the Asian Golf Tourism Convention next month for the first time which will showcase the archipelago as a serious golfing destination.
Golfasian managing director Mark Siegel believes Indonesia is primed for major growth.
"The number and quality of courses in Indonesia, service standards and infrastructure mean there is huge potential to grow the market."
"Last year, Golfasian hosted 15,000 foreign golfers in Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Indonesia. I believe the arrangement with Asia World Indonesia will increase this number substantially," Siegel added.
The Golfasian Indonesia partnership will be based from Asia World Indonesia’s office in Bali and will host a group of 60 international golf tour operators in Bali immediately following the Asian Golf Tourism Convention.
