Golfers Paradise in the Southern Highlands

Monday, 24 Mar, 2006 0

Are you or your clients looking for a relaxing weekend break location close to Sydney and perhaps where you can play a round or two of golf?

Owned by Moss Vale Golf Club and nestled in the beautiful green hills of the Southern Highlands, The Dormie House is a quietly elegant guest house situated right on the Moss Vale Golf Course.

Established in the early 1930’s, The Dormie House retains its period charm while providing all the modern amenities of a quality golf resort.   It offers intimate atmosphere and personal service making it a perfect retreat for couples, a golfing weekend with friends, small groups or a casual business conference.

Moss Vale is just 1.5 hours drive from Sydney, 2 hours drive from Canberra and 1 hour drive from the coast and The Dormie House offers a range of 30 rooms, which they charmingly describe as Gracious Guest Rooms on a Championship 18-Hole Golf Course.

There are four types of rooms, reflecting the individuality of the House that has evolved over its 65 years of history.  The Standard Rooms are well equipped and have a standard sized double bed and a bathroom; the Deluxe Room have either a Queen or King Size Bed and some of the Deluxe Rooms have spa baths.

The View Rooms are similarly equipped to other rooms, but with sweeping views over the Golf Course; and finally, catering for families the Family Rooms have two bedrooms, a bathroom and a sitting area, perfect for a family or those who are happy to share.

The Dormie House packages are designed for guests to enjoy all aspects of the Guesthouse, including a four-course dinner, full country breakfast, and of course golf.

And to make this even easier, when staying at Dormie House, guests are guaranteed a tee time on Moss Vale Golf Course, due to a fixed hour allocated each day, but please remember guests must have a current AGU or WGA Handicap to play on Saturday.

Completed in its present layout in 1936, The Moss Vale Golf Course is regarded as one of the prettiest in the NSW Country Regions, with avenues of pines, elms, gums and vividly coloured claret ash flanking the winding layout.

The course is 5995m par 72 from the men’s tees with a number of twists and turns, in addition to small elevated greens, making it a good test and the creek which runs through the course has to be crossed 12 times during the round!

test yourself on comp day

In fact, the Mole will be venturing to the Southern Highlands on the weekend of the 1st April to challenge this course, along with nearby Mount Broughton and the Bowral Country Club.

The Dormie House offers a range of packages and these can be checked out on their excellent web site – http://www.dormiehouse.com.au
