Good start to 2005 for Cheapflights
Cheapflights claims that over three million people visited its UK sites in January.
The statistic, which has been verified by an independent auditor, amounts to 3,070,481 unique users to the company’s three websites in January 2005 – these are www.cheapflights.co.uk, www.cheapholidaydeals.co.uk, www.cheapaccommodation.com.
If the number of unique users visiting the US websites is included, the company clocked up over four million users.
According to a spokesman for Cheapflights, measuring a website’s popularity is most effectively done by calculating the number of unique users.
He said: “If someone visits the site twice they don’t get counted again – it is the most conservative measure of how many people are using the site.”
Cheapflights is a price comparison website that makes money by taking a fee of around 20p from travel suppliers and agents when traffic is directed to their product.
The company estimates that it will generate travel product sales of over £800 million for its UK partners this year.
Cheapflights chief executive David Soskin said the website’s success was down to its neutral and independent offering.
