Grant Shapps to speak at ABTA Travel Convention
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps will speak at this year’s ABTA Travel Convention, which is taking place as a one-day virtual event on 14 October.
Shapps has been leading the Government’s policy on travel corridors and quarantine rules, but was famously caught out when Spain was removed from the UK’s quarantine exempt list just hours after he arrived for a family holiday.
He will talk to delegates about the Government’s ‘vision for the future of travel and tourism’ in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, said ABTA.
He will also outline the plans in place for current EU travel legislation as the UK approaches the end of the Brexit transition period on 31 December.
Other speakers include:
* The Independent Travel Editor & broadcaster Simon Calder
* Chris Sainty, British Ambassador to Portugal
* Jennifer Anderson, Consular Director, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office
* Julie Murphy, Chair, Star Alliance UK & Ireland and Sales Manager, UK and Ireland, ANA
* Melanie Eusebe, Founder, Black British Business Awards
* Sally Cope, Regional General Manager, UK/Northern Europe, Tourism Australia
Further details are available at www.thetravelconvention.com. Fees for ABTA members and partners for the one day event are £125 while non-member fees are £249.
